Jim’s Story

My family moved to Texas from Michigan in 1959, grew up on a farm south of McKinney, attended McKinney High School, where I met Becky Wood, now married 57 years, and live in Allen. After graduation from The University of Texas, Arlington, I worked for The Army & Air Force Exchange Service, various retail companies, shopping center owners, then Christian Brothers Automotive as a Franchise owner.

On April 17th, 2021, I was diagnosed with Duodenal Adeno Carcenoma, followed by surgery to remove in May, then chemotherapy from June thru November, 2021. The post chemo effects, multi-million dollar expenses over 2022, and the depression from the disengaged immune system took its toll. By God’s Grace and Providence, Jesus spared me, Becky anchored me, and my family, friends, and Bible Fellowship church members helped get me thru this Cancer. Based on recent testing, I am Cancer free for years.

Along with another couple and church leadership we are forming a Cancer Support Group in order to assist those going through various types and stages of Cancer.

Join a network of hope and shared strength

We're building meaningful connections through local events, prayer gatherings, and volunteer opportunities that unite families, churches, and businesses against cancer—empowering everyone to give and receive support in fellowship.
